On Friday 27th September, Fitzalan pupils visited the aircraft carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth.
The visit was arranged by Lieutenant Commander Lynch from the Royal Navy who accompanied us on the visit.
The ship was alongside in Portsmouth which meant that we approached the enormous ship through the historic dockyard. From the Mary Rose to HMS Victory to HMS Queen Elizabeth, we saw the huge scale of the Royal Navy’s biggest and most technologically advanced warship.
Pupils explored the ship and had the opportunity to talk to naval personnel about life on board. We found out about the many roles on board, including meteorologists, oceanographers, communications officers, air traffic controllers, engineers, chefs and medics.
