As part of their Seren and RAMP experience, 31 year 11 pupils had the opportunity to spend the day at University of Oxford. The Year 11s had a myth-busting session on applications to Oxford, where many of them learnt about the financial help available and necessary grade requirements, before meeting some current second year students. They had some fantastic questions for the students about their experiences so far, especially with regards to Oxford's unique tutorial system.
After lunch, the pupils had a tour of New College (where lots of Harry Potter was filmed!) before participating in a note-taking masterclass and a linguistics tutorial with Dr Rosalind Temple about syntax in French and Welsh. The pupils enjoyed their time at the university with many considering applications as they head into sixth form and a few now applying for a residential experience in the Summer term.
