Year 8 visit to St Fagans – Hawlio Heddwch

On Thursday 11th July, the history department took a group of Year 8 pupils to visit St fagans.

For the first part of the day, they had a workshop called Hawlio Heddwch - Claiming Peace, where they visited the Petitioning for Peace exhibition and then planned their own protest.  This culminated in the pupils designing banners and having their own protest march.  After a picnic, we then had a look at the Iron Age House, St Teilo's Church, Llys Llewelyn, Rhyd y car Terrace,  the Cilewent farmhouse and the Penrhiw Chapel.  The pupils also treated themselves to ice lollies and lollipops from Siop Losin.

Thankfully the sun shined for us and as well as considering historic Welsh protests, we all enjoyed looking at the historic buildings in St Fagans.  It was a good day.
