Year 13 pupils had a guided tour of the RRS James Cook which was docked in Cardiff Bay before half term.
Pupils saw equipment used to collect data on sea voyages, learnt about the range of scientific disciplines active on the ship and got a flavour of what life would be like onboard a research vessel. The pupils even managed to see Boaty McBoatface, a research submersible named by the British Public. All the pupils were fantastic, however a special mention to Imeth Bandara for some superb questions and for taking a picture of Mr Lewis in the Captain's chair.
Unfortunately Mr Lewis wasn't allowed to drive the boat.
